Malaysian dates packaging and distributing company Omni Mal Agencies has incorporated the traditional Malay heritage design into its dates packaging, printed with songket motifs for Muslims during the fasting month.
As part of the new design, the company introduced its dates in Songket Motifs. The Malay fabric Songket is patterned with gold and silver threads that provide the shimmering effect.
Omni Mal Agencies managing director Chua Hock Tee told BERNAMA that the songket motif in the packaging wrappers, boxes and cans have been launched for 2012 festive period and adds style to the company's offerings.
"The packaging image is important as it highlights the identity of the particular product to the public, especially to the customers," Tee added.
Besides, the new packaging promotes the songket indirectly.
Omni Mal Agencies markets dried fruits and fruit juices, besides the specially packaged dates supplied to wholesalers. It packages dates from all over the world including Iran, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and UAE.
