The Board of Directors of Brown & Brown have promoted Linda Downs as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the company and Charles Lydecker as president of Retail Division.

Downs was most recently CPCU, AIA, regional president and Lydecker was regional president of the company.

In the new role, Downs will be responsible for leadership of internal operations and for oversight of the Company's Services Division, effective immediately and will also continue to be responsible for oversight of certain retail offices.

Lydecker will commence the company's Retail Division operations leadership throughout the US while Downs and Lydecker will continue to report to the Chief Executive Officer.

Brown & Brown president and chief executive officer Powell Brown said: "These promotions are an important and necessary step as we move toward our announced goal of '2B,' that is, the attainment of two billion dollars in annual revenue."

Since 1980, Downs held services with Brown & Brown and had oversight responsibility for a variety of enterprises, including offices in the Retail, National Programs and Wholesale Brokerage Divisions and others.

Prior to joining Brown & Brown in 1990, Lydecker served several other firms including Gateway Banks of Florida and Stonewood Holdings, Florida Self-Insurers Guaranty Association, Florida Housing Finance Corporation, and others.
